Vidhyakunj Gujarati School Ottawa is dedicated to nurturing the Gujarati language and culture within our community. With over 50 students enrolled from Beginner to Advanced levels, we provide a structured and supportive environment where children build strong language and cultural foundations.
Why It Matters
For first- and second-generation Gujarati Canadians, preserving our mother tongue is more than learning words. It is about sustaining identity, heritage, and connection across generations. It helps children stay rooted in their culture while confidently growing in a multicultural society.
Our Approach to Learning
We focus on developing confident speakers, readers, and writers of Gujarati.

Year 1
Strong emphasis on listening and speaking through interactive activities, helping students become comfortable with everyday Gujarati communication.

Year 2
Students are introduced to the Gujarati alphabet, along with sounds and vowels, building a solid foundation for reading and pronunciation.

Progression
Gradual development of reading and writing skills through guided practice, ensuring students gain confidence and fluency over time.

Advanced Levels
Focused on strengthening communication, comprehension, and expression, enabling students to use Gujarati effectively in real-life situations.

Our School & Educators
For over 30 years, Vidhyakunj has been a proud part of the Gujarati community in Ottawa. Operating under the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB), we are located at Greenbank Public School and serve over 50 students each year.
Our qualified educators follow OCDSB guidelines and teach in small class sizes (10–15 students), ensuring personalized attention and effective learning.
